The most important thing I can tell you about myself is that I love creating the change we need. I believe so strongly that art is important. Art is provocative. Politcal. Its healing properties are studied and scientifically undeniable. I’ve been witness to it and experienced it myself. Art has the power to change everything. Art will shift your perspective. It's a catalyst for change.

I went from being a photojournalist to an adventure consultant before aligning with my true calling of helping others unlock the power of art.

Since then, I’ve brought major successes to the art world. AH-MA-ZING artists and museums trust me to strategize and execute a vision. As a high-level curator —expanded programming at Chihuly Studio, contemporary art non-profits, and commercial fine art galleries.

This is a good thing because

The artworld is multifaceted. This vast network has an ecosystem with highly specialized sectors where key stakeholders call me to realize important creative projects.

That means you have the advantage! You have the opportunity to see a full view, not just a one-sided, single perspective inside a system riddled with misconceptions.

From behind-the-scenes assisting the artist, to fine art curating and advising,- these perspectives have given me a great collection of "oh-my-gosh" stories, and a wealth of knowledge to learn from an expert and art world veteran.

My classes are unique with lessons that make a difference because I deconstruct the art world in a manageable way unraveling so many misunderstandings.

I work hands-on with emerging artists to highly revered master artists who create change. Working with Judy Chicago, feminist icon, and one of Time Magazine's most influential people still blows my mind! Barbara Earl Thomas painter, author, and essayist is a fantastic leader to work with. And, I continue to assist Dale Chihuly in his studio, an artist known for revolutionizing the studio glass movement and for being one of the most innovative artists working in the medium of glass, neon, and polyvitro.

What I love about these artists is that they create beauty, they cause tension, and they question belief systems and the status quo. Check out how PBS and The New York Times have chronicled this devotion.

Past, present, and future

I am a thought leader for female artist scaling their career into a legacy. In addition to working directly with trailblazing artists on legacy projects, I advise philanthropists, new collectors, and celebrities. My twenty-something-year-old self was hand-selected to produce Q & A sessions, narrate and interpret the process of the world’s foremost artists working in glass at the Museum of Glass. Later, as a top sales galler-ina I was promoted to Director of a fine arts gallery - a highly coveted position with statistically more men in executive roles. Check out how PBS and The New York Times have chronicled this devotion.

My thing

I did have a 'thing' for art at an early age and leaned into art academically. I continued my studies at the University of Washington in Museology (my favorite word!) after a double major BA at Central Washington University. With Christie’s education department, I held a focus on the Female Agency in the Arts.

Throughout history, art has been a form of correspondence and inspiration. Time with the Guerrilla Girls has been a major highlight in my life. Their use of facts, humor, and outrageous visuals to expose gender and ethnic bias, have shaped me, reminds me to dive a little deeper, and to always be active.

Art helps us understand the thoughts, science, and technology of our ancestors. Research professor Brene Brown states, “Art has the power to render sorrow beautiful, make loneliness a shared experience, and transform despair into hope.” It’s a remedy that connects the mind, body, and soul.

It's an honor to be able to curate shows for artists and to have the opportunity to open the minds of the observer even if it is one glance. Contact me for a full list of publications of shows that I have worked on.

Lifting Voices

The School at Press Reign is dedicated to sharing ideas, providing you with resources, tips, and techniques so that you too can experience the power of art. My mission: take my first-hand experiences and apply them to your life.

Lifting the voices of our artists is essential. Create the change we need to stop the erasure of our indigenous and feminist art with a donation to Confluence Project and Through the Flower.
